Locative Media - The Express Way

One day, I went to tea tree plaza to with my boyfriend by bus. The bus went on an Express Way, which was like a railway but only for bus to drive on, it only took 15 minutes to the plaza from city. I was amazed by the idea of the bus railway. It’s so unique and interesting. I just wanted to build lots of them in china if I could. Therefore, a few weeks later, I took the bus again to Tea Tree Plaza for my haircut. The trip was enjoyable, I like the way it was smooth and relaxed, which matched my idea for my film. However, there are some difficulties for collecting the data. My plan was going to film the GPS movement on iphone, but I had to jailbreak my phone to get the software, which would lose my privacy. I decided to record the view out of the window by using a camera and took pictures on the GPS by screenshot (Iphone itself).

The themes of the film are smooth and relax. The music background is from the apple software iMovie, called time lapse. I like the sound is slow and simple, quite as relaxing. There were not many effects in the film because I wanted to make it simple and flow.

At the beginning of the film, it was from blur to focus, and then you would realize it was in the tunnel. The bus was running in between brightness and darkness. With the relaxing background music, I started my journey. From city to Tea Tree Plaza, the trip was peaceful and quick. I looked outside the window, the view was river, trees and walkway, beautiful and natural. And then we went in another tunnel, when we came out, we were already there, the plaza.

The reason I put the GPS map at the last, was to show everyone the movement of the journey. This is the fastest way to get to the location and you can stay away from the traffic.

It is smooth and simple, which could help you stay away from the busy city. It is a way to release your stress and a way to relax. Here is the express way.
